When we remodelled our kitchen, we knew we wanted something that was different, something unique to us. A kitchen that nobody else has. We also knew we didn’t have 30k€ or more for a fully custom designer kitchen.
So… we decided to do it all ourselves.
The cabinets and drawers are all Ikea… it’s sturdy, stable, and will last a long time. We had the drawer fronts made to measure for us from a local cabinet maker who specialises in making drawer fronts for “Swedish kitchens”.
The rest I did myself. The kitchen island is an oak frame with filled solid oak sides, with an Ikea cabinet and drawers at the centre. I made the two bar stools from the same oak to match. The wine holder on the left of the kitchen bench was made to fit the leftover space between the wall and the standard size Ikea cabinets.
The cladding on the side of the high cabinet to the right is solid oak strips.
We’re really happy with how this turned out – and it’s always nice to know that it’s truly a kitchen like no other.
