This was a special request from my wife, who wanted a classic cupboard for the dining room to store wine glasses, vases and other glassware that you don’t need in the kitchen every day.
I’d previously made a very similar cabinet, so this was v2 – or perhaps the younger brother.
It’s European Ash, finished with hardwax oil. Ash is just a beautiful timber, and the oil makes the colours really pop. All the boards came from the same trunk of the same tree so it matches perfectly. The double cabinet doors are fitted with ‘Vienannese Braid’ aka cane webbing, which is a perfect subtle contrast to the timber.
This cabinet was a joy to make, and I love having it next to the dinner table in our dining room.
