This year we remodelled the master bathroom. My wife planned everything in minute detail, including the bathroom sink and cupboard.
She had very specific requirements: oak-wood finish, a spacious wash area that is easy to clean, lots of drawers (and no drawer handles), and no legs – the cabinet should hang from the wall with no legs.
There was nothing available from any bathroom studios that fit the bill… and custom builds easily started at 5k€ and more. So we decided to build it ourselves.
We ordered the sinktop to our measurements – it’s a single piece of Corian with a moulded basin.
The cupboard beneath is veneered particle board with solid oak edge banding. The front edges are cut to 30 degrees and the handless drawer fronts are flush with the inside edge, giving the drawer fronts a recessed look. I chose the expensive drawer runners from Blum with soft-close and push-to-open, and they work beautifully.
The whole thing hangs from the wall on 4 special cupboard hangers which are secured to the inside of the carcass frame.
This was one of the most ambitious projects I’ve done, and I’m really happy with how it’s turned out.
